
Sanjay Sharma
Sanjay Sharma is the Founder and Chairman of GreenPoint Global, a firm specializing in green lending software for major banks in addition to a range of advisory, content, process, and technology services for insurers, law firms, and publishers. GreenPoint holds a global footprint and stable client base that ranges from small and medium-sized organizations to Fortune 1000 companies worldwide. Sanjay’s extensive career in the financial services industry spans three decades and encompasses investment banking and C-level risk management positions at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, Moody’s, and Natixis. As an investment banker, Sanjay has worked in several industry sectors including media and entertainment, financial institutions, technology, airlines, surface and air transportation, consumer and commercial finance, mortgage banking, defense and aerospace, and automobile manufacturing. Sanjay acquired his appreciation for risk firsthand as a merchant marine officer at sea where he served for seven years and received the Chief Engineer’s Certificate of Competency for ocean-going merchant ships. He has also served as an advisor and member of the board of directors for UPS Capital (a Division of UPS) and on the global board of directors for the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA).
Sanjay holds undergraduate degrees in physics and marine engineering. He earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in finance and international business from New York University. He is the author of several books, including Risk Transparency (2013) and Data Privacy and GDPR Handbook (2019) and the co-author of The FRTB: Concepts, Implications and Implementation (2018). He also teaches sustainable finance courses at USC’s Marshall School of Business.
